Olympic Chaos

So the olympics have finally turned downtown Vancouver into a completely insane circus. Lots of police, lots of extra, jay-walking pedestrians and LOTS of bad VANOC drivers. So far the street and lane closures have had a minor impact, thankfully, but we shall see how they affect deliveries once the games are in full swing. I anticipate minimal repercussions however it is possible that P1+ and P1 deliveries may have minor delays depending on where they are going. Yaletown and Canada Place will definitely be an issue. Thankfully it will all be over soon (except for the giant debt) and we can go back to normal life.

More pictures of the bike at work. This is a trade show booth, fairly large but fun to pretend that I'm riding with a huge cannon on the front.

Campbell left this on my rack while I was dropping a trip. Good prank.
Here are some photos of various loads that have been getting hauled around recently. Christmas time always brings some fun loads like gift baskets or boxes of wine.

This is a beautiful rocking chair I got for our house. If only I could have someone sit in it while I was pedalling.

This the track bike carrying my other track bike to the shop to saw out its seized seat post.

This is my track bike outfitted with a small, front mount rack that can take two file boxes or about 80-ish lbs comfortably. Very handy for having a quick bike able to carry medium box loads when necessary. The rack i built after seeing a Colnago master pista track bike with a cetma rack on the front at the cycle messenger world championships in toronto. The owner was a messenger from NYC and he was hauling around huge loads of race materials. Very inspiring. When we got back to vancouver i went to the hardware store and rigged this rack up in about a half hour.

Go Time!

Cargo Cult Messengers is up and running and ready to carry huge stuff around downtown Vancouver. The Bilenky cargo bike i've been using is amazing and has been carrying some ridiculous loads. It can jam 6 file boxes at a time, maybe more and so far has been loaded to 350 lbs. Check for more photos and updates on what sorts of crazy things are being carried around town, besides my drunk courier friends of course. Call me for rates, zones, hours and all that good stuff. peace.
